Manufacturing
Production lines run 24/7, so a big-bang migration is never an option. Here is the phased approach we use instead.
Manufacturing execution systems are some of the hardest systems to modernise. They are old, heavily customised, and the production line depends on them every minute of the day.
The good news is that you rarely need to replace the MES itself. Most of the value comes from moving the reporting and analytics layer around it.
Start with reporting, not the core
We begin by building a cloud reporting layer that reads from the existing MES without changing it. The production line never notices.
- Map every report and its data source
- Replicate data to the cloud in near real time
- Rebuild reports and verify them side by side
Run old and new in parallel
Nothing is switched off until the client's own engineers have verified the new reports against the old ones. This takes weeks, not days, and it is worth it.
The safest migration is the one where you can always go back.
